History: Formerly known as the Drake-Wiltshire Hotel, the current Campton Place Hotel is comprised of two buildings that date back to the early 1900s. In 1916, the hotel was enlarged to 15 stories, remodeled in Spanish Colonial Revival style, and named the Drake-Wiltshire Hotel. The property underwent an $18 million renovation in 1981 to create the luxurious Campton Place Hotel, paring 200 rooms to 126 rooms and suites. Purchased by Southbourne, Inc. in 1992, the company completed a $5.4 million renovation in 1995, further reducing the room count to 117 to accommodate new meeting facilities. In 2001, after the completion of a $15 million renovation, Campton Place Hotel will stylishly usher in the millennium. Named one of The Best Romantic Hotels by Bon Appetit, Campton Place Hotel continues to enjoy a reputation as one of the world's finest upscale hotels.
